APG developed the Detailed Design of the well-known landmark in the Eastern Region, refurbishment of the retail mall entailed upgrades and expansion of existing structures as well as creating a modern retail experience.  The collection of stores, restaurants and gathering spaces are punctuated with a cohesive visual palette that is of interest in both form and texture. The pedestrian-centric design pays tribute to traditional Arabian design where geometric patterns and polygonal shapes intersect clean, smooth white planes. Plazas, water features and palm bosques are supported by sunken lawns and art installations for an engaging and inviting day to night atmosphere. Date palms, site furnishings and native planting are strategically sited as a natural embellishment for climatic mitigation and overall ambiance. APG & DLR created a world-class outdoor refuge and lush destination within the mall that compliments a modern evolution of the Najdi vernacular with design detailing that addressed pedestrian and vehicular circulation, hardscape, landscape, lighting and water features elements for an outstanding lifestyle experience.
